The Cost of Keeping the Peace

Group Experience: Book Club Series

The Cost of Keeping the Peace
$50.00

You’ve spent years being the one - the one who smoothes out the conflict, the one who scans the room to make sure everyone else is comfortable, the one who swallows the words because saying it feels costly, the one who gives in because it feels easier. And every time it feels like a win, because you’ve kept the peace, but there is also something that feels very hollow too.

The problem is that you have kept the peace for everyone else but you. There is a cost to this kind of silence. It allows you to manage a level of calm in relationships, but your needs never get met, you feel tired, empty, depleted, and unseen. The problems never really get resolved, and you feel more disconnected than ever.

In this group experience, we’ll discuss the book “The Cost of Quiet” by Colette Jane Fehr. You’ll meet and connect with other “serial people pleasers” like yourself, while learning why this has kept you comfortable, but unhappy — and how to make small changes so you can find your voice, make peace (not keep it) and resolve conflict without alienating everyone else — or yourself.
